Reversible Organic Bamboo Velour 'Peapod' hat

I have fallen in love with bamboo material, especially the velour. It is just so soft and squishy. It feels so delicate yet is incredibly easy to care for - so much so, that it is now becoming incredibly popular in cloth diapers. I have had great fun dying it as it takes dye incredibly well. The best colour so far has to be this 'avocado'.
After making one of these 'Anne Geddes' style Peapod hats for my daughter I began developing a reversible version. I am really pleased with the result and actually the two colour look seems to work really well. So far there is the avocado green/natural version and the chocolate brown/natural version. I am looking forward to trying out some other colours though.

Getting things ready

I have been working hard over the past two months creating and making for my new Etsy shop. It has been very exciting and my husband has been getting a bit overwhelmed by the amount of things I have been planning to make! Suddenly I have an excuse for trying out new materials. It's great....they are for my Etsy shop after all!
So, the plan has been to use sustainable or recycled materials wherever possible. I am loving bamboo fabric and wool at the moment and have been trying out a variety to see what works best. So far it has to be the organic bamboo veour. It is so luxuriously squishy and takes dye wonderfully. It is also super easy to care for (just wash & dry on a medium heat) which is a huge bonus.
I have also been enjoying felting wool sweaters from Goodwill and turning them into hats and boots. Lots of fun!
